Julie Goodman is a lifelong dancer and is Physical Equilibrium's first Zumba instructor. She holds a group exercise instructor certification from AFAA and teaches multiple class formats across New York City. She believes in making movement accessible and fun for everyone, regardless of fitness level.
Julie trained in classical ballet growing up and also explored in other dance forms. She first discovered group fitness classes in 2012 and was hooked! While Zumba was and still is her favorite class, she expanded to other cardio dance modalities, as well as strength training and other formats. The common thread of musicality and movement made all classes exciting and accessible, and kept her coming back.
Julie worked for several years in startups as a recruiter and took lots of fitness classes on the side. The itch to teach professionally developed, and in 2014 she started her journey by earning a license to teach Zumba. Startups kept her busy, so she did a little bit of substituting here and there. In 2018, the itch to teach professionally really grew, and she decided to take the plunge and go for it! After gaining AFAA certification, she began teaching Zumba and soon added on classes in other modalities. Fitness instruction is the most joyful, fulfilling career imaginable and Julie is overjoyed to share her love of movement and music with everyone she teaches.
