Rachel Bennett is Physical Equilibrium’s first yoga instructor. Having initially experienced yoga at a small Brooklyn studio over twelve years ago, Rachel immediately knew that she was destined to practice and teach it for the rest of her life. Rachel earned her certification from Yoga Works in 2008, and has since taught at Equinox, New York Health and Racquet Club, New York Sports Club, The Educational Alliance and Reebok Sports Club. Rachel has also studied Jivamukti Yoga, which she credits as deepening her desire to practice and teach.
Born in New Hampshire, Rachel’s love for moving and the outdoors began when her family moved to upstate New York at age 11, and she found her groove dancing. Rachel went on to complete summer dance programs at the New York City Ballet and Boston Conservatory and later attended Hunter College, where she graduated with a dual degree in Dance and Writing.
Rachel is a strong believer that through the constant practice of yoga, magic happens. Cells in the body get more oxygen and become happier, the liver is detoxed, muscles are toned, bones are strengthened and the nervous system is soothed – all leading to a healthy body and mind. It is Rachel’s greatest honor and passion to teach the ancient art of yoga to her clients, and to see them become stronger, flexible, happier and centered.
When she is not teaching, she is writing, dancing, and advocating for people living with Alzheimer’s disease.
